Oasis Hotels & Resorts To Manage Merricks
As earlier speculated on this blog, and according to Harlequin Property's first quarterly newsletter, they are planning for Oasis Hotels & Resorts' parent company, Globalia, to manage all of Harlequin's properties in the Caribbean including Merricks in Barbados. Globalia was selected because of its network of 1,400 travel agents across Europe and the USA, they owning their own airline to provide the necessary airlift, and ongoing their experience already in managing 5-star resorts in Caribbean. The above mentioned newsletter also claims that as a result of a recent meeting with Government officials of Barbados including the Prime Minister and the Minister of Tourism, and the need to do an environmental impact study for the project, the completion date for the resort has now been pushed back to December of 2012. Translation: Sorry, early investors, don't look for any construction to start any time soon, but, hey, now that Globalia is onboard (maybe) your "property value" just took off like a rocket - nevermind the current global real estate meltdown.
